Clean, safe, dry and adequate living accommodations are essential for families to thrive. We work on providing limited solar power for homes because electricity is rarely available. Students achieve better results in school when basic home lighting is available in the evening hours. Daylight in Kenya lasts from about 6 AM to 6 PM every day year round. That leaves little time in the evening for studying and homework.
Most homes on the Maasai Mara are mud huts. Over the years the elements take a toll on and the walls deteriorate. The metal sheets come loose and logs and stones are put on top to keep them from blowing away. The doors will no longer close and the ventilation is often inadequate. As the walls deteriorate they actually begin to collapse. The roof and the walls leak and allow rain to enter the home. Making the home damp and unhealthy. The floors become muddy when the walls and roof leak. Their only shelter is no longer safe and definitely not clean and far from adequate.
Sometimes we just need to start over from scratch and build a new home.
God bless No end to love for the great work 💕💕
